Educator Licensure Steering Group

The Educator Licensure Steering Group was formed at the request of the Illinois State Board of Education as a sub-group of the Teacher and Leader Effectiveness Committee to provide recommendations to state education agencies regarding outreach and implementation efforts related to several recent changes to educator preparation and certification from a systemic approach. A diverse group of stakeholders has assembled to address a wide variety of issues related to licensure including recruitment and enrollment into education programs, diversity of the educator pipeline, pre-service experiences, relationships between institutions and the community as well as local districts, and ongoing professional development within the context of the new licensure system, teacher and administrator evaluations changes, and Common Core implementation among other initiatives.
